It may be fall down under, but the looks spotted outside Sydney Fashion Week are ripe for late-spring and early-summer outfit inspiration here in the States. With the Emerald City’s sun still shining and a light breeze drifting off the famed harbor, the week served as a masterclass in transitional dressing—think lightweight outerwear paired with pretty floral dresses, relaxed tailoring fit for warm-weather workdays, and casual off-duty looks that perfectly capture the city’s carefree cool.
But that’s not all. As ever, Sydney Fashion Week kept us on our sartorial toes with statement silhouettes, unexpected pairings, and bold pops of color.
If you’ve been looking for a lesson in layering, you’ve arrived at the right place. Down under, some of Sydney Fashion Week’s chicest attendees turned to gauzy knits layered atop luxe leather midiskirts, roomy polos teamed with sporty track pants, and polished car coats worn over longline Bermuda shorts. Some of the season’s top dress trends were on display, too, from decorative crochet frocks to pretty floral prints.
Intimidated by wearing all black in the summertime? Don’t be. Follow the lead of several looks below and brighten yours up with colorful sandals, embellished handbags, and earthy pendant necklaces. Or, ground your next monochromatic ensemble with a bohemian-inspired clog sandal à la Chloé. And when in doubt, slip into a pair of lace-trimmed mini shorts with a roomy blouson, heeled thong sandals, and a The Row bag. It’s a fashion week formula that works every time.
With late spring still in full swing in the Northern Hemisphere, comb through our favorite street style trends from Sydney to craft your next great look. Otherwise, see you later this summer for the menswear shows and couture week—we’re already counting down the days.

The Lace Mini Short Moment
Shorts and summer go hand in hand—but none feel more romantic, or more street style-approved, than the lace-trimmed mini. Like this showgoer, style yours from Dôen with a roomy blouson and easy tank underneath, then add a welcome pop of color with a pair of chartreuse heeled thong sandals. A rich chocolate-brown tote and sporty shades ground the look perfectly.

The Stacked Clog
Give your next summer look a bohemian-inspired twist with a chunky summer clog. As shown here, the shoe adds a grounded feel to any outfit formula: a classic black cashmere sweater layered atop a luxe leather midiskirt and finished with oversized aviator sunnies. A long pendant necklace and suede tote keep the textural yet carefree momentum going.

Sleek Summer Tailoring
Dressing for the office during the summer months is all about smart, stylish separates that work for both balmy commutes and overly air-conditioned offices. For inspiration, turn to this chic attendee, who styled a collarless leather jacket with relaxed trousers and a pair of low-heel pumps. A croc-embossed clutch transitions the look seamlessly into after-hours territory, as do statement-making earrings and cool sunnies.

The Track Star
Track style is back—and not just down under. This summer, embrace your sporty side with a striped rugby sweater and a pair of cotton-cashmere drawstring pants, then add a city-ready twist with easy flip-flops in place of traditional sneakers. Finish the race-ready look with a colorful beaded necklace, tortoiseshell shades, and a mesh tote bag.

The Proportion Play
Spring’s chicest outerwear trend? The little jacket. This showgoer agrees, styling her own pankou-closure jacket atop a flowing shirt, easy black trousers, and a pair of glossy black Chelsea boots. Recreate the look with similar pieces, then finish off with square-frame shades and an elegant beige tote for welcome contrast in an otherwise all-black look.

The Transitional Outfit Formula
Flannel shirts, car coats, and leather Bermuda shorts are transitional-dressing all-stars. Like this attendee, however, give the look a summertime twist with sleek strappy sandals, a cool canvas tote, and a pair of goggle-like shades. With spring’s cool breeze still lingering across the Northern Hemisphere, it’s the perfect outfit for right now.

The Pretty Floral Dress
Floral dresses were everywhere on the spring/summer 2026 runways—and now the streets have taken note. For the warm yet still breezy days ahead, follow this showgoer’s lead and layer Posse’s pretty strapless number underneath Everlane’s timeless khaki car coat. Inject a pop of color via Le Monde Béryl’s burgundy low-heel pumps, then accent with a gold shell brooch pinned on top. A beaded handbag puts the outfit firmly in summer.

Some Sage Advice
Street style’s most grounding hue? Sage green. As showcased down under, a minty handbag brings personality to an otherwise simple look. Follow this attendee’s lead and style Savette’s petite top-handle with a tailored blazer, semi-sheer midiskirt, and slingback kitten heels. For one final touch of Aussie flair, complete the look with a knitted straw pillbox hat.

The Decorative White Dress
Everyone needs a go-to white dress in their summer arsenal, so why not make it a true showstopper? As seen here, reach for Simkhai’s dainty crochet frock adorned with a floral silk pin from Indress. Stick to the all-white color palette with Jimmy Choo’s strappy heeled sandals and, for a textural touch, finish with Khaite’s python-effect shoulder bag and Toteme’s sultry onyx drop earrings.

The Textural Takeover
Rich texture isn’t reserved solely for the colder months. This summer, try a floral-embroidered cardigan with a sumptuous suede midiskirt. Accessorize with classic black ballet pumps and, for a trend-forward twist, tie a festive fringed scarf around your waist (or bag, if smaller). It’s a styling trick that’s not only street style–backed, but Vogue editor–approved, too.

The Bright Blue Button-Up
We’re deeming the bright blue button-up summer’s must-shop wardrobe essential. Not only does it lend a polished effect, but it also lets you work in a subtle pop of color in a pared-back look. Style yours similarly with an edgy moto jacket, breezy black trousers, and fashion-forward two-toned pumps. Complete the look with equally timeless pieces: a slouchy black shoulder bag and tortoiseshell sunnies.
