Album of the Year Nominee André 3000 Pulls Out of Grammys

André 3000 will be unable to attend Sunday night’s 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony, the Outkast member announced Saturday.

The artist announced in an Instagram post uploaded Saturday morning that he was unfortunately unable to attend but that “some of the New Blue Sun musicians, friends and supporters will be in attendance.” André 3000, whose real name is André Lauren Benjamin, is up for album of the year, best alternative jazz album and best instrumental composition for New Blue Sun. The new age jazz release is the Outkast member’s debut solo album.

“Our album was conceived and recorded in Los Angeles with spirit of openness and creative collaboration,” André 3000 said in the post. “We hope that the rebound of Los Angeles is swift and renewing. Congrats to all the musicians and collaborators being acknowledged. Keep playing.”

Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Shakira, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga, Benson Boone, Doechii, RAYE, Shaboozey and Teddy Swims have been announced as performers at this year’s Grammys, which will raise funds to support wildfire relief efforts in L.A.

“The upcoming Grammy Awards won’t just be about celebrating and honoring the best in music this year, it will also show how the power of music can help rebuild, uplift and support those in need,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. previously said in a statement. “We are thrilled that so many artists in our community are banding together at this time to show support for their fellow music makers and others impacted by the recent wildfires.”

Beyoncé leads the pack of nominees with 11 nominations. Lamar, Charli XCX and Eilish are all up for seven awards, with Taylor Swift, Carpenter and Roan close behind with six nominations.

The 2025 Grammys will air live on Feb. 2 from the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Trevor Noah will host for the fifth consecutive time. Swift, Will Smith, Anthony Kiedis & Chad Smith, Cardi B, Gloria Estefan, Olivia Rodrigo, Queen Latifah, SZA and Victoria Monét have been announced as presenters during the ceremony.
