They expect nostalgia, personalization, iconic destinations, a booming Asian tourism market, and spontaneous connections to make headlines.

At a recent summit in London, leaders of the highly influential travel technology provider Amadeus unveiled their travel trends for 2025. In an audience of media and industry stakeholders, the discussions focused on the intersection of technology and travel and how it can shape the future of the industry.

According to their projections, five key trends will shape the travel landscape in 2025: nostalgia, personalization, iconic destinations, a booming Asian tourism market, and spontaneous connections. The concept of “rosy retrospection,” where travelers seek out destinations from their past, is expected to gain traction. Advances in AI, 5G, and AR are expected to enable more personalized and immersive experiences for air passengers.

A shift in focus from the journey to the destination is predicted to increase, with trips being planned around iconic, unique properties or “Trailblazer Hotels”. The importance of real-life connections is also set to grow, as digital dating burnout rises and travelers explore alternatives for real-world connections, from holiday romances to lasting friendships. Lastly, the Asian region is gearing up for a travel resurgence, aiming to reclaim its position as a key player in the global tourism industry.

Amadeus CEO Luis Maroto reflected on the company’s growth over the past 37 years and expressed his optimism for the future. He highlighted the travel industry as a sector where the influence of technology and innovation will only continue to rise.

In a session titled “Travel of Tomorrow,” Amadeus executives explored the future of the travel and hospitality industry. Decius Valmorbida, President of the Travel unit, emphasized the need for the industry to advance together using open technology to deliver a seamless end-to-end journey.

Francisco Pérez-Lozao Rüter, President of Hospitality, reiterated Amadeus’ commitment to leading the hospitality industry into a new era of digitalization. Amadeus’ comprehensive portfolio of solutions aims to address key challenges faced by travelers and hoteliers, creating a more connected, efficient, and personalized hospitality experience.

With an emphasis on technology, innovation, and personalization, the trends forecasted by Amadeus provide a roadmap to a more connected and immersive travel experience for all.
