Anbernic has released a new Linux update for the RG Vita Pro. The update brings visual changes as well as under-the-hood improvements to the PS Vita-styled handheld.
Anbernic has released a new software update for the RG Vita Pro handheld, its second within a month. However, while the previous update was for the handheld’s Android OS partition, this new update is for the Linux partition since the handheld dual-boots Android and Linux.
The update arrives as Linux V1.0.1, and according to the changelog, there’s now a Screen Timeout menu in the System Settings. It has also added a shutdown icon, updated the “System Rescue” feature to include a confirmation step, and updated the App manager. The update also brings a redesigned button test menu, which can be accessed from the App Center.
A list of the changelog also mentions new additions to the preinstalled emulators such as the ability to pull up the menu during gameplay for the emulators for Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 3DS. However, the most noticeable change is the addition of two new themes called Aurora and Vita. These new themes allow users to switch from the default Anbernic UI that ships with the RG Vita Pro.
Like some of its previous updates, this new one needs to be manually downloaded and copied onto a microSD card with a minimum capacity of 16GB. The download file is about 2.34GB in size and can be accessed from the source link below.
