ChatGPT Integrating Apps Into Its Service—Including Apple Music

OpenAI confirms that Apple Music is among the upcoming integrations with ChatGPT, following the initial rollout of partnerships in October.

Apple Music subscribers will soon be able to ask ChatGPT to create playlists and more, thanks to a partnership on the horizon. In a Substack post published on Tuesday, OpenAI’s CEO of applications, Fidji Simo, confirmed that Apple Music is among the upcoming integrations with ChatGPT.

OpenAI first introduced apps in ChatGPT in October, with the first round of integrations including Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, Spotify, and Zillow. At the time, the company also released a preview of the Apps SDK, which, once released, will enable developers to integrate their own apps with ChatGPT.

Simo says that “even more apps will be available in a new directory, including Adobe, Airtable, Apple Music, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce, and other developers will be able to submit their apps for review.” This also indicates that the Apps SDK is about to exit its preview stage, while OpenAI has pursued more high-profile integrations.

Alongside more app support, ChatGPT also now has better image generation capabilities. The feature is able to generate images up to four times faster, and can make precise edits to an image while preserving details. According to OpenAI, ChatGPT can now tweak only the details you want changed while keeping the lighting, composition, and the appearance of figures consistent across inputs, outputs, and edits.

Apple Music’s ChatGPT integration will probably work similarly to the existing Spotify integration within ChatGPT. Once you connect the relevant account, you can start a message to ChatGPT with the name of an available app, such as, “Spotify, make a playlist for my party this Friday.” ChatGPT can then automatically “surface” the app in your chat and use relevant context to complete tasks.

Notably, Simo’s Substack mentions Adobe, which just rolled out apps for Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat in ChatGPT, and announced that new capabilities would be introduced in the coming weeks.

Apple Music requires an active subscription for ChatGPT integration. Users can sign up for $10.99 a month, with one month free for new subscribers. Rumors of a price hike in 2026 have been circling as industry figures like David Israelite push DSPs to raise prices.
