Indianapolis Colts guard Quenton Nelson was voted No. 99 in the NFL’s Top 100 list that was announced on Monday. Since being drafted by the Colts in 2018, Nelson, who has established himself as one of the best guards in the league, has appeared on the prestigious list thrice: 2020 (No. 29), 2021 (No. 33), and 2022 (No. 28).
Why Jonathan Taylor Took Issue With Quenton Nelson’s Ranking
Nelson’s Colts teammate, running back Jonathan Taylor, took issue with the guard’s ranking on the Top 100 list on X but nonetheless celebrated his inclusion with a flexed bicep and high-five emoji.
Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who has faced Nelson multiple times in the league, was effusive in his praise for the guard’s tenacity.
“As a defensive guy, for me I wanna be around the football. You turn on that tape, Jonathan Taylor running down the field and you see a pile, watch out, Quenton Nelson is coming over to knock that pile,” Simmons said.
“I know I need to bring my A-game every time I line up against Quenton. He plays the game hard.

“Facing him twice a year for my last seven years, he’s been unbelievable. It’s nothing but respect for Quenton.”
Nelson earned first-team All-Pro selections in each of his first three seasons in the league after being selected No. 6 overall by the Colts during the 2018 NFL Draft. In eight seasons played in the league, Nelson has only missed four out of a possible 133 games.
Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. broke down the aspects that make Nelson so dominant in his position and even added a huge prediction about the guard’s future.

“I’ve seen Q a few times, man,” Anderson said. “Q, he’s mastered his technique.
“You talk about taking your craft to the next game, he has. And I think that’s what’s allowed him to stay in this game so long.
“Because he’s powerful, he’s smart, he’s instinctive, he knows how to stay in front of you and he’s strong. He’s one of the best. He’s gonna be a Hall of Famer too.”
Nelson, who has earned eight Pro Bowl selections in his stellar career, signed a mammoth four-year, $80 million contract extension in 2022 that made him the highest-paid guard in NFL history at the time.
He allowed only 19 pressures on 637 pass-blocking snaps, giving up one sack and posting a 2.98% pressure rate for the Colts last season, earning a PFSN player Offensive Line Impact score of 85.7, No. 23 in the league.
