Today marked the twelfth Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Here’s what I observed down at the Jefferson Health Training Complex!
EAGLES PRACTICE NOTES
- EAGLES INJURY REPORT:
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
- WR Makai Lemon (hamstring)
- While Lemon did not practice, he did get some rehab work in on a side field away from the rest of the team. Lemon’s workout included running some routes. He also took part in the “catch circuit” where almost everyone on the team practiced catching the ball after team drills ended. So, there are finally some signs that the Eagles’ 2026 first-round pick is getting closer to returning.
- RB Tank Bigsby (toe)
- Bigsby apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- WR Johnny Wilson (knee)
- Wilson returned to practice last week only to miss Saturday’s game and now be out again. Seems like a setback.
- TE Grant Calcaterra (back)
- Calcaterra apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
- Vic Fangio previously noted that Jones is going to miss “some time” with his injury.
- CB Mac McWilliams (groin)
- McWilliams apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- CB Jakorian Bennett (knee)
- Bennett got banged up early during Saturday’s preseason game.
- OT John Ojukwu (pectoral)
- Ojukwu apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring)
- Pierce had some nice moments early in camp before getting banged up and being out since then.
- EDGE Jose Ramirez (hamstring)
- Ramirez apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- CB Shaun Wade (eye/shoulder)
- Wade apparently got banged up in Saturday’s preseason game.
- WR Makai Lemon (hamstring)
- LIMITED PARTICIPATION:
- WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
- Good to see Smitty back with a helmet on at today’s practice. He did not take part in team drills but he’s ramping up with some position work. Perhaps he’ll be ready to practice against the New England Patriots this week.
- S Cole Wisniewski (hamstring)
- The rookie sixth-round pick was upgraded to limited after previously missing most of camp and spring practices. He saw some reps in team drills.
- EDGE Keyshawn James-Newby (ankle)
- The rookie seventh-round pick was upgraded to limited after previously missing most of camp.
- CB Tariq Castro-Fields (heel)
- TCF missed some practice time and the Eagles’ first preseason game but he might be able to play this weekend.
- WR Danny Gray (concussion)
- Gray took part in team drills but has still yet to officially clear the concussion protocol.
- WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
- FULL PARTICIPATION:
- Quinyon Mitchell (glute) and Cooper DeJean (groin) were notably removed from the injury report after missing some time last week. Good to see.
- Saquon Barkley was full go despite a brief injury scare last week.
- ACTIVE/PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO PERFORM
- EDGE Jonathan Greenard (pectoral)
- RESERVE/NON-FOOTBALL INJURY
- S Tucker Large
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
- JALEN HURTS UPDATE:
- Thought Hurts was just OK today.
- THE GOOD:
- Hurts hit Darius Cooper over the middle with good timing on the first rep of 7-on-7.
- Hurts also had another completion to Elijah Moore along the right sideline.
- Hurts threw a nice ball to Hollywood Brown, who sat down in a soft spot in the defense. Most positive play Brown was involved in in some time.
- THE BAD:
- Hurts threw over the middle to Dontayvion Wicks and had the ball knocked down by Quinyon Mitchell, who was unsurprisingly playing tight coverage. Still, a better throw might’ve been complete.
- Hurts missed an open Elijah Moore along the right sideline. Either the timing was off or it was an overthrow.
- Hurts threw a ball over the middle and down the field to Quez Watkins that was intercepted by Michael Carter II. The ball looked like it lacked proper zip.
- THE GOOD:
- Could be bad but not necessarily the case: Hurts seems to be throwing across his body more often than he has in the past. I don’t think doing so has burned him yet; he’s actually completed a number of passes like this. But it’s generally not the best practice.
- Thought Hurts was just OK today.
- BACKUP QUARTERBACK BATTLE UPDATE:
- Andy Dalton flat out missed a throw in the flat. See what I did there?
- Tanner McKee threw a ball into the dirt well short of an open Stone Smartt.
- Neither backup is looking good at the moment.
- Jalyx Hunt notched a “sack” while going up against Jordan Mailata. Oftentimes, the quarterback will still throw the ball after a “sack” occurs since the defenders aren’t actually allowed to get close to the QBs, who are wearing red jerseys as a reminder to not contact them. But Hunt clearly won to the point where Hurts didn’t even bother to throw.
- Dallas Goedert had a really bad drop where he bobbled the ball up into the air with no one around him … and still didn’t make the catch. Offense was pretty lucky that wasn’t a pick.
- Landon Dickerson looked a little slow to get up at one point but he stayed in. There are times where it looks like he’s lumbering around.
- Byron Young and Moro Ojomo combined for a really nice interior rush at one point. Willie Lampkin ended up on the ground.
- Shorter practice today, so, shorter notes.
UP NEXT: The Eagles have a walkthrough closed to media access on Tuesday before they ship up to Foxborough, Massachusetts for two joint training camp practice against A.J. Brown’s Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday! Stay tuned to Bleeding Green Nation for our observations from those sessions.
