The famous golden chocolate spheres are getting a geometric makeover.
With autumn on the horizon and Halloween candy filling up store shelves, of course we have chocolate on the brain. And while we can save the typical Halloween candies for the kids, I have my eye out for the not-so-typical trick-or-treat options that adults will love. Enter: Ferrero Rocher.
Did you immediately envision the golden foil spheres? Such an image is synonymous with the brand. But now, Ferrero Rocher is finally squaring up with the rest of the chocolate world.
What’s up with the Ferrero Rocher squares?
Ferrero Rocher has launched individually-wrapped chocolate squares for an easier way to share its chocolate.
The new squares keep everything you love from the classic round chocolates: Each square packs a crispy hazelnut filling with crunchy wafers wrapped in a thin chocolate shell. They’re currently available in four flavors: Milk Hazelnut, Dark Hazelnut, White Hazelnut and Caramel Hazelnut. You can also grab an assorted pack of squares that include the dark, milk and white versions to taste test a few flavors all at once.
Do the Ferrero Rocher squares taste the same as the round version?
I was a bit skeptical, so I picked up a bag of the new squares to see if they held the same magic as the foil-wrapped bonbons we know and love.
After a side-by-side taste test, I have to say the flavors are the same, but the ratios are different. That makes sense though, right? Holiday-shaped Reese’s Cups have a different taste than the classic cups, after all. As for the Ferrero Rocher squares, there was much more chocolate shell than hazelnut wafer filling. Now, if you’re a lover of straight Ferrero Rocher chocolate, this might be the pick for you. On the flip side, if you’re a filling lover, it’s definitely not as present. However, as someone who finds spherical Ferrero Rochers to be a bit too much in large doses, the squares are an ideal balance. I could easily finish a bag by myself.
Ferrero Rocher chocolate squares are available now on the brand’s website as well as retailers nationwide like Walmart, Walgreens and Target.
