The overlap between fashion and sports is nothing new — and Kyle and Kristin Juszczyk embody it. On the field, the San Francisco 49ers fullback earned his tenth consecutive Pro Bowl nod last season, cementing his status as the most decorated fullback in league history. Meanwhile, Kristin has successfully emerged in the fashion industry as the founder of elevated team apparel brand Off Season, which she heads up alongside entrepreneur Emma Grede. The brand churns out deconstructed, yet chic wardrobe staples like cargo shorts and team jackets, making champion game day apparel look effortless. Even Taylor Swift has taken notice and worn its offerings.
“I’ve always kind of lived by the mantra ‘look good, feel good, play good,’ and that transcends into sports as well, so it was a natural evolution,” Kristin tells Popsugar. “Once I met Kyle and started going to all of his games, I had so much fun recreating different looks and taking something that was old and turning it into something new.”
The NFL star shares the same ethos, having a newfound appreciation for fashion because of Kristin’s influence, which speaks to their synergy as a couple. To no surprise, they go all out on Super Bowl game days, from decor to snacks — with Flipz‘s classic chocolate covered pretzel as a mainstay in their spread. Their Flipz fandom led to a partnership for the brand’s Up Your Game Day campaign, inspired by the coin toss — and a national petition to make “coin flip” the universal term. “As a captain of the Niners on away games, I’m the one calling heads or tails,” Kyle says. “So I think it’s important we sign the petition.”
Beyond their allegiance to Flipz, the Juszczyks stick to game-day rituals: Kyle flips through photos of Kristin and their dogs to get in the right headspace, while Kristin draws confidence — and inspiration — from vintage finds she sources on Depop, Etsy, and eBay.
