As the founder and chairman of the U.S.-Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce (USPICC) since 1986, he has been instrumental in supporting the transition of nearly 8,000 individuals from employees to successful business owners. Mr. Sheikh began his career in automotive engineering, earning his degree from Columbia Technical Institute in New York in 1976 and later working with Ford Motor Company for a decade. In 1980, he launched his entrepreneurial journey with Texaco, excelling in service inspection, emissions, and wholesale operations. Over the years, he earned multiple accolades for high performance, including the Texaco Star Performer Awards (1987–1998) and the Top Achiever Award from Star Enterprise.
Driven by a commitment to education, advocacy, and equitable access, Mr. Sheikh founded the Pakistan American Business Association (PABA) in the 1980s, which later evolved into U.S. Pakistan International Chamber of Commerce (USPICC) to reflect its growing international scope. Under his leadership, the organization has hosted seminars, trade shows, and cross-border collaborations with other chambers of commerce to promote entrepreneurship and diplomacy.
Mr. Sheikh’s work has been recognized at the highest levels of government with U.S. Congressional Record Recognition in 2011 by Congressman Gerald E. Connolly for advancing U.S.-Pakistan academic ties, a Senate of Virginia Commendation in 2024 for leadership in community service, and multiple Proclamations and Resolutions from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in 2016, 2019, 2021 and 2023 honoring his role in diversity, economic development, and police-community trust.
He has held numerous advisory and board roles, including with George Mason University, Washington University of Science & Technology, and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). As chair of the Chief’s Council on Diversity with the Fairfax County Police Department, Mr. Sheikh has strengthened ties between law enforcement and diverse communities, promoting mutual respect and trust.
In addition to accolades from both Republican and Democratic leaders, Mr. Sheikh received the 25th Anniversary Republican Senatorial Inner Circle Award, signed by Senator Mitch McConnell, and has been honored by organizations such as the United States Olympic Committee, Rotary Club of Springfield, and the Islamic Society of North America.
