Max Holloway explains why he’s not overlooking Conor McGregor ahead of UFC 329: ‘It’s a hard fight’

Max Holloway knows he can’t overlook or underestimate Conor McGregor when they have their rematch at UFC 329.

McGregor will make his return after five years away, and although he’s lost his last two fights and hasn’t fought in years, Holloway is expecting a tough bout.

“It’s a hard fight,” Holloway said on his Kick stream. “Conor’s still dangerous. You’d be dumb as hell to think he’s not.”

McGregor is known for his striking and power, and Holloway knows at 170lbs the power will be there. So, despite being a sizable favorite, Holloway is preparing for a hard fight, which is also filled with plenty of trash talk.

“Of course (I expected him to talk trash),” Holloway said. “Why wouldn’t his mic skills be the same? Why wouldn’t they be?”

Max Holloway eager to fight at 170lbs at UFC 329

Along with getting a chance to avenge a loss to Conor McGregor, Max Holloway is excited for the bout to be at welterweight.

Holloway used to fight at featherweight and had some tough weight cuts; even his weight cut to lightweight isn’t easy. So, he’s eager to use this camp to focus on his skills, rather than the weight cut.

“I’m excited,” Holloway said. “I get to eat good all of camp. I get to eat what I want to eat. Imagine I miss weight at 170? Holy sh*t.”

Max Holloway is also looking to get back into the win column at UFC 329 after a one-sided loss to Charles Oliveira, to lose his BMF belt. Holloway was taken down at will and had a hard time getting up as Oliveira was much stronger, but the Hawaiian will likely be preparing for a striking fight against Conor McGregor on July 11.

As for McGregor, he hasn’t fought since July of 2021, when he broke his leg in the trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier.

Who do you think will win the UFC 329 main event between Conor McGregor and Max Holloway?
