The MSI MS-CF16 V3.0 is the latest Pico-ITX SBC from the company intended for hobbyist as well as industrial use. The product features twice the number of COM ports and GPIO pins as before, and is yet to be released to the public.
MSI has revealed a brand new SBC (Single-Board Computer), named the MS-CF16 V3.0. This SBC is based on the Pico-ITX form factor, which allows it to fit in places with severe space constraints. Powered by multiple CPU options, the MS-CF16 is intended for industrial and embedded use.
In terms of CPU options, the MS-CF16 SBC can be equipped with the Intel N97, Intel N150, and the Intel Atom x7433RE processors. The N97 and N150 chips are commonly found in many low-end affordable mini PCs, such as the GMKtec G3 mini PC (curr. $210 on Amazon), and boast respectable performance for lightweight tasks. The 9-watt Atom chip, on the other hand, is rarely found in consumer hardware, and packs 4 cores clocked at up to 3.4 GHz. Among the CPUs on offer, the 4-core N97 is likely the most powerful, going by synthetic benchmarks.
The SBC sports a decent array of I/O options, which is to be expected from its category. Memory requirements are handled by up to 16 GB of LPDDR5-4800 memory, which is unsurprisingly soldered. M.2 B, M.2 E and SATA 3.0 handle expansion options. The details regarding the I/O on offer, as well as other notable features, have been listed below:
- Dual LAN ports (2.5G, 1G)
- Dual COM ports, 16-bit GPIO (8x GPI, 8x GPO)
- Dual USB 3.2, Dual USB 2.0
- HDMI (4k30), eDP (1200p60)
- Realtek ALC897 HD for audio
- TPM (Infineon SLB 9672)
At just 10.1 x 7.3 cm, the MSI MS-CF16 V3.0 SBC is just 300 grams heavy, and can operate without requiring any active cooling. OS support includes Windows as well as Linux, and the board features a built-in heatsink for thermal dissipation.
