The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a 124-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night in Bronny James’ preseason debut, but he scored a win off the court.
Per Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post, James and Parker Whitfield made their relationship public with posts on Instagram. Whitfield shared a photo alongside James and Mickey Mouse on Thursday, which was National Boyfriend Day, with the caption “bf day! i love you! @bronny.” James reposted the photo and added the caption “I love you babyyyyy.”

James and Whitfield attended Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles together. Whitfield, who is a student at the HBCU Spelman College in Atlanta and the daughter of actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield and actor Dondré T. Whitfield, was first seen alongside James sitting together at Team USA games at the Paris Olympics over the summer.
James produced two points, a rebound, an assist and three blocks in his preseason debut. Lakers head coach JJ Redick praised him as a “really unique” and “disruptive” defender.
The 19-year-old, who is the son of Lakers star LeBron James, will get his second taste of NBA action on Sunday when Los Angeles faces the Phoenix Suns.
