IRONMAN have announced a new multi-year partnership with ROUVY, the “world’s most realistic indoor cycling app”, which becomes the Official Digital Sports Platform of the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Triathlon Series.
In addition to the new partnership, ROUVY has also acquired FulGaz, the current Virtual Cycling Platform of the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Global Series, from The IRONMAN Group.
Ride IRONMAN routes from home
For age-groupers, the headline here is that the new partnership between IRONMAN and ROUVY will make it easier to train for destination races – or recce a few bike courses if you’re still deciding which race to enter.
ROUVY’s USP is that they record real routes on location, and create an augmented reality, interactive version which riders can experience while indoor cycling. Numerous courses from IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 races around the world, including IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant, IRONMAN 70.3 Zell Am See-Kaprun, IRONMAN 70.3 Oregon, and the IRONMAN 70.3 European Championship in Jönköping, will now be accessible on ROUVY – with more being added throughout the year.
The courses are set to have marked aid stations, which alongside interactive features such as realistic corner braking and real-time data analytics may be a handy tool for athletes training for races far away from home. What is ROUVY?
ROUVY is an indoor cycling app, which connects with your smart bike or turbo trainer. The platform features realistic HD videos which are filmed on location, and turns these videos into immersive, augmented reality versions of real routes from around the world. Alongside a growing library of routes, the app also has a range of workouts and training plans.
The acquisition of FulGaz and the partnership with IRONMAN marks another development in ROUVY’s growth in recent years as the platform gains in popularity. What next for FulGaz users?
Alongside the addition of the newly available IRONMAN courses, ROUVY will also now include 20 of the most popular FulGaz routes. For now, FulGaz users will still be able to use the platform as usual – with ROUVY set to share further details ‘in due course’ on additional developments.
Athletes who sign up to an IRONMAN/IRONMAN 70.3 race will also be able to access a 30-day free trial on ROUVY.
