Sabrina Carpenter Doesn’t Have Cold Feet About Breaking This Fall Fashion Rule

Sabrina Carpenter is keeping cozy girl fall going—even on a night out with Taylor Swift.

On November 7, the pop stars were seen out and about in New York City, both dressed for a night on the town with autumnal twists. Unshaken by their staggering height differences, Swift threw on a pair of burgundy Gucci platform loafer heels with a preppy Thome Brown polo sweater and asymmetrical pleated skirt, topping everything off with a sloping shoulder bag by The Row (which you can and should read more about here).

For her part, Carpenter opted to dress up a white chunky cable-knit turtleneck with a black miniskirt and sheer stockings, further elongating her legs by adding a trench coat. This is a perfect short girl styling trick as the mid-length coat highlights the ultra-short hemline of the skirt, drawing even more attention to the legs.

However, she did not invoke her usual tool for creating the illusion of length: a pair of sky-high platform heels. Instead, she opted for a more grounded pair of black peep-toed pumps, breaking the unwritten rule against pairing open-toed shoes with stockings. Of course, some rules are made to be broken and Sabrina Carpenter avoided any fashion faux pas by opting for stockings without an obvious seam at the toe to distract from her cute pink pedicure, which is still plenty visible.

Of course, this is the same woman who recently paired yellow socks with peep-toed heels for another New York outing, serving a delightfully ’80s monochrome look on October 14. Clearly, she doesn’t have cold feet about embracing this season’s most controversial cozy trend.
