Everyone knows what the most wonderful time of the year is: Starbucks holiday menu season. It’s a tradition eagerly awaited by coffee lovers everywhere. I can’t tell what’s more anticipated, the return of the Starbucks red cup or the first snow of the season. Since I’ve spent the better part of this past week digging my car out of a whopping foot of snow, let’s just say that I’m ready for a nice warm mug of caffeine.

And just when I thought that the holiday season couldn’t get any more exciting, Starbucks made a big announcement. The coveted Starbucks Bearista cups are coming back! Here’s everything we know so far about the bear cups.

What are the Starbucks bear cups?

Whether you’re a Stanley, Owala or Yeti devotee, there’s no denying that we are living in a “fun cup” renaissance—and Starbucks has been active in the fun cup game. The coffee chain’s iridescent tumblers and brightly colored cups have been collectors items for years. And last month, Starbucks released its biggest—and cutest—cup drop yet with the Starbucks Bearista Cold Cup. For $29.95, you could drink iced lattes from the cutest cup in the world.

The Bearista cups sold out almost immediately and gained instant collectors’ item status. They’ve been posted on resale sites at wild markups; one was even listed on eBay with a whopping asking price of $2,500. What can I say, people love limited-edition merch!

How long will they be available?

Starbucks posted a teaser announcement to their Instagram account on Dec. 7. The caption simply read, “Your chance is in the Starbucks app. Tomorrow, 12/8.” It garnered over 6,000 comments in just a few hours.

Now, the news has been confirmed: The Bearistas are coming back as a prize for Starbucks’ annual holiday game, the Starbucks for Life Merrython. If you’ve never participated in the game before, then this is definitely the year to start. The game runs from Dec. 8 through Jan. 4, and includes a lot of prizes: free drinks, food, Starbucks gift cards and, of course, the coveted Bearista cup. Starbucks says that 17,000 Bearista cups will be available as prizes through the game.

And if you don’t have $2,500 to shell out for a coffee cup and don’t like your odds of winning a Bearista on the app, then I have a secret tip for you. Walmart is selling Bearista dupes for $19.99. They’re almost identical to the Bearista cup, minus the Starbucks logo. So no matter what, everyone can be a winner!
