2. GM expects lower EV losses, drops Ultium name

General Motors said it believes its losses from electric vehicles have crested and expects to reduce them by $2 billion to $4 billion in 2025. The Ultium brand name will disappear as GM moves toward using multiple battery cell form factors and chemistries.

Salt water can “mimic the salts found in a battery cell’s electrolyte,” and when one cell ignites, other cells can “ignite in sympathy,” leading to fire erupting in the whole pack.
