Stephen Curry, one of the all-time greats, may be nearing the end of his illustrious career. As the inevitable approaches, the four-time NBA champion gave PFSN a peek behind the curtains on how long we may still see him draining long-range 3s and hitting his infamous shimmy in the NBA.

How Much Longer Will Stephen Curry Play in the NBA?
At a press conference for the American Century Championship, the Golden State Warriors star told PFSN how long he wants to play. The American Century Championship is an annual celebrity golf tournament held each summer in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Curry is competing. He’s already taken home the championship in 2023 and is looking to do the same this year.
When the 11-time All-Star was asked the lingering question of how much longer we will see him play, he responded: “I don’t know. I’m just taking it two years at a time. That’s what I have left on my contract right now.” Curry seems noncommittal about putting a number on how many years he can play, but he is willing to play at least two more seasons.”

According to Spotrac, the four-time NBA champ has amassed more than $410 million in career earnings. Curry signed a four-year, $215 million contract in 2021, then recently signed a one-year, $62 million extension in August 2024.
As he said, this deal puts him under contract through the 2026-27 NBA season, two years from now. But with his elite conditioning and a shooting stroke that doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, he could well play into his 40s.
His father, Dell Curry, also recently sat down with PFSN to give his thoughts on his NBA Goat, how long he thinks Steph can play and more.
“I think he could be well into his 40s because he can shoot the ball and requires that you have to guard him,” Dell said. “That’ll create space for other players on the floor, so I think that decision will be totally up to him.”
Stephen Curry Ponders His Life After Basketball
While the Warriors star isn’t thinking about retirement just yet, it seems like he’s begun thinking about life after basketball. Curry spoke to CNBC and stated he may get into broadcasting, own an NBA team like Michael Jordan did, or even get into pro golf.
When discussing possible ownership in an NBA team, Curry shared his desire to build a winner, similarly to what the Warriors accomplished during his career.
“The idea of being a part of an ownership group and the right opportunity that allows me to have an impact on how a franchise should be operated, how you’re going after true winning, like we’ve done here with the Warriors – that’s something I’m excited about pursuing,” the former Finals MVP shared.
But Curry shared how it needs to be the right decision for him, “I think about what would be the right opportunity for me, ’cause anything that I do, I want to be all in on it,” he said.
While we still have at least two years of watching Curry’s greatness, every day we get closer to the end of watching him and players of his era like Kevin Durant and LeBron James.
