This week Latham & Watkins—the law firm retained by FireAid—released a full investigative report into how the $75 million in funds was distributed so far ($25 million of the $100 million remains undistributed). The report includes full figures and recipient names in an appendix, so we can see which music organizations received funding support.
In a section entitled Appendix A, funding recipients are divided into categories according to their area of operation. Under the ‘Musicians & Artists’ grant recipients’ list, we can see several charitable organizations associated with the music industry received at least some funding.
A note on these grants states that each organization is mandated by FireAid and the Goldman Sachs Donor Advised Philanthrophy Fund (CS DAF) to report on fund usage—focusing on direct relief for those impacted.
The ‘Musicians & Artists’ grant category received a total of $3,300,000 for the first two rounds of distribution. The funds were restricted to organizations who provide direct relief to qualified members of the music and arts community. The six organizations named in the report are below with their total funding amounts and listed descriptions.
Armory Center for the Arts | Received $100,000. The center provides multidisciplinary arts training, including music, with a focus on recovery support for affected creators.
Community Partners: LA Commons | Received $100,000. LA Commons delivers culturally-rooted music and arts programs, including direct recovery support in neighborhoods hit by the fires.
J. Paul Getty Trust: LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund | Received $500,000. This fund supports artists and musicians across Los Angeles with cash assistance and grant programming.
Music Health Alliance, Inc. | Received $500,000. Music Health Alliance delivers health and medical emergency support to musicians. In 2025, it expanded direct financial and consultation aid to LA musicians.
MusiCares Foundation (Recording Academy’s charity) | Received $1,000,000 in the first round and $150,000 in the second round. Total $1,150,000. MusiCares provides musicians with disaster relief, medical expenses, and basic needs funding.
Sweet Relief Musicians Fund | Received $100,000 in the first round and $150,000 in the second round. Total $250,000. Sweet Relief supports cash aid and grocery gift cards to musicians facing emergencies, specifically targeting those displaced or financial destabilized by the wildfires.
