Xiaomi has issued a recall of one-third of all the electric SU7s it has ever made. The problem lies with the driver assistance software, which can fail in certain driving scenarios.
High-flying EV maker Xiaomi is recalling a large number of its best-selling electric sedan in China. The issue, which is related to its smart driving feature, affects 116,887 SU7s.
The recall covers the Standard Edition versions manufactured between February 6th, 2024, and August 30, 2025. According to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), some units may fail to sufficiently recognize, warn, or handle extreme navigation scenarios when the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) is activated. The defect could potentially result in a collision if the driver does not intervene quickly enough.
Xiaomi will fix the problem with a free software update delivered over-the-air. However, the company has announced on social media that the SU7 and the YU7 SUV will receive an upgrade to the latest Xiaomi HyperOS 1.10.0 system.
The Xiaomi SU7 remains popular in the Chinese market, with about 340,000 units sold since its launch in March 2024. The sedan is available in three trims: Standard, Pro, and Max.
The safety of Xiaomi’s autonomous driving system was brought to the spotlight in March when a Standard SU7 ran into a highway guardrail. Three people sadly lost their lives.
