Always wanted the perfect tabletop drink tub for parties and hangouts? Yeti might have just nailed it with its latest launch.

Coolers are bulky, heavy and sometimes an eyesore. They’re great for road trips and long-term storage, but when you’re hosting a backyard hangout or dinner party, an ice bucket or drink tub is often the better move: less bulk, easier access and less digging.

So, what if your drink tub had some of the same serious insulation power as a Yeti cooler? Enter the new Yeti Tank 30 Beverage Tub. Designed for indoor or outdoor entertaining, it keeps drinks cold while putting everything right in front of you. No opening a lid, bending over or rummaging through a mountain of ice to find the drink you want.

Sure, for plenty of people, a cooler parked on the patio gets the job done. But if you’re someone who loves to host, this feels like one of those upgrades you didn’t know you needed until now.

So, how’s it different from a cooler?

A traditional cooler is bulky, deep and has a lid. That’s great for camping, road trips and keeping things cold for days, but it’s not always the most party-friendly option.

The Tank 30 takes a different approach. It’s smaller, shallower and completely open, making it ideal for tabletops, counters and other surfaces where you want guests to easily grab a drink without digging around. It also means you can create a pretty drink display (just add ice!).

Does it offer the same days-long ice retention as a Yeti cooler? Not exactly. But it does feature double-wall insulation and the same kind of sturdy construction you’d expect from Yeti, which makes for better ice and drink retention throughout the night than you’d get from a basic, non-insulated drink tub.

After four hours sitting out at a birthday party, a large six-pound bag of ice had begun to melt. This was after mealtime, with several people reaching in with warm hands to grab drinks. In other words, the Tank 30 kept drinks impressively chilled for more than four hours in roughly 70-degree weather.

It’s also less expensive than a full-size Yeti cooler and considerably lighter, making it easier to move around when you’re setting up (or cleaning up) the party. Integrated side handles make carrying and moving it easy, while nonslip feet on the bottom help keep it firmly in place instead of sliding across your table.

In other words, it’s not trying to replace your cooler. It’s designed to be the cooler’s more party-ready cousin.

What It’s Best For

The Tank 30 is made for hosting. Think backyard barbecues, dinner parties, casual get-togethers and just about any occasion where you need to keep drinks or food chilled and within easy reach.

Fill it with wine, soda, beer or other cold drinks—or get creative with food. It could work for oysters, fresh fruit, cold dips and charcuterie items that you want to keep chilled without leaving them soggy or sweaty.

Whether you’re hosting an al fresco dinner or a casual indoor brunch, the Tank 30 is designed to keep stuff cold and in reach.

How much does it hold?

The hefty tabletop tub can pack a lot in. It holds up to 53 cans, 21 wine bottles standing upright or 38 pounds of ice, so there’s plenty of room to keep the party stocked.

It also weighs less than 9 pounds when empty, so cleaning and shelf storage are easy to do one-handed. The exterior measures 28.6″W x 14.6″D x 8.5″H, while the interior measures 22.9″W x 9.7″D x 6.9″H.

In other words, it’s big enough to keep plenty chilled without being so big that it takes over the table.

Where to Buy

A new table-top drink tub from one of our all-time favorite cooler brands.

Right now, the Yeti Tank 30 comes in three colors (navy, white and tan) and is available directly from Yeti. But if you have your heart set on a specific shade, don’t wait until the day before your next party. Some colors have been tough to keep in stock.

The Tank 30 retails for $150, which isn’t exactly budget-friendly for a drink tub. But for frequent hosts, we think it’s a worthwhile upgrade. And with fall hosting season right around the corner, now is the perfect time to snag one.

Halloween parties, Thanksgiving dinners, football Sundays, holiday get-togethers—suddenly, that $150 drink tub is looking pretty useful.
